Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev secured his initial title for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - led to him dropping out of the top ten and eventually separating with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial title after the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface since March of the previous year.

Success also means the Russian has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a title is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, comprising in that event in the past months.

The player's defensive play style and regular reactions on the playing surface had led commentators to doubt if his capacity to play at the elite level was concluded.

However the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and compete assertively, backed up by an improved service.

He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, securing four of the last five games to go ahead.

Both players traded break points in the following set before the challenger, striving for his maiden professional title, gained dominance to create a third set.

The opponent defended four initial chances in a tight final set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, he secured victory with a rally at the net area, with Moutet failing to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
