'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith resumes clash with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the nail-biting final moments of Swansea's epic comeback victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith picking up a spectator's eyewear amid the pitch-side pile-on.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith cracked the upright with a powerful strike from distance, and the defender immediately hammered in the deflection before charging toward the crowd to revel in the moment, with supporters swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory sealed an unbelievable turnaround given the Welsh side had been behind 2-0 midway through the second half. During the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. He shared, "There was a fan shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're people, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The result earned a upcoming game at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. He had arguably the best view when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with a teammate's long-range effort from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the Stefan Ortega. It feels criminal that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've given it to him for having a go from that far out," stated Galbraith, who started in midfield before moving to right wing-back after Orient changed formation. That meant competing with City's winger, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the winger was among the opposition who complimented the way his former team approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are exceptional but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," Galbraith says. "It seems as if they complete every delivery and they are adept at dictate and neutralize a game. You can think you're doing well and then suddenly they will just deliver a through ball between defenders without you even spotting it. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It requires a resilient mindset and focus just to stay in the game."

New Chapter

The Welsh side sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to bring him in in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He established himself as a crowd pleaser across two seasons at Leyton Orient and has swiftly done the same in Wales. At his previous team he linked up again with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in senior football on loan at a League One side from Manchester United. Then came a temporary move at lower division Salford City, before he moved on from Old Trafford.

Learning Curve

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into men's football. I think a lot of players would say development squad matches is very different. Sometimes it seems play is circulated without much intensity. There are limited hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adapt rapidly."

International Recognition

He has demonstrated that maturation for club and country, excelling for the Green and White Army, who remain in contention for the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the recent fixtures, including two matches encounters against a football powerhouse. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's previous international manager, gave him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Starting Out

This marks a remarkable path for the kid from the local area in his hometown, just outside the capital, who was raised observing his dad, the elder Galbraith, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's sole appearance for Manchester United came in Central Asia in 2019, a European competition trip to Astana, where they played on an synthetic surface and the stadium roof was closed owing to conditions of freezing cold. "That proved to be a long trip and it was cold out there," he recalls, chuckling. "The week before, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to travel with the first team and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Moving On

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he transferred from aged 16? "The decision proved quite easy, because I got to the stage where I understood I couldn't establish myself at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the experience gained but it got to the point where I felt I had to take a different path, drop down the leagues and play men's football. Now I'm slowly progressing again."

New Environment

It is the early part of the afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another progress toward getting on the road. Until recently to the local area, the mid-twenties player was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed fun bus, a minibus driven by team personnel, the drivers, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"It's myself a teammate, another squad member, the midfielder – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has started driving. It's enjoyable to socialize with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the following person to drive independently and behind the wheel. His teammate is known for his humor; he's frequently playing tricks."

Supporter Connections

While playing for Orient, Galbraith would blend in with followers on the Tube after starting his journey at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
